| Jun 6, 2015, 6:50 AM - 9:25 AM This morning Martha and I participated in the Fresh Pond Bioblitz starting at 6:50 until 9:25, we recorded 38 species, many confirmed nesting. Note especially the number of Warbling Vireos and Yellow Warblers- both probably under counted- we saw very few females. Two pair of American Redstarts and two pair of gnatcatchers were nice as well as a Cedar Waxwing nest. Totally absent- Carolina Wren- this past winter was especially hard on this species and the population probably at its highest level on this years Christmas Counts has really been decimated by the long cold weather of late January until early March. There will be an Owl and insect trip tonight at 8PM- meeting at the Water Treatment Facility.
