Twigs of Highbush Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum)
Blueberries are native shrubs with high wildlife value:
their flowers are attractive to bees, and their fruit
are consumed by birds as soon as they are ripe.
These
twigs are on a bush near the perimeter road
in the "Old Meadow" area. By the time the fruit ripens
in July, the surrounding thicket of poison ivy will assure
that few humans get to share the feast.
