Photography as a Contemplative Practice: Part I

Photographer Patricia Turner shared her unique approach to photography, which she calls Contemplative Photography. She showed and talked with us about her photos, and shared relevant quotes from philosophers, naturalists, and other photographers.

Where traditional photography focuses on subject and technique Patricia makes the connection between meaning and personal experience the over-riding emphasis. Her presentation delved into Visual Listening, the Contemplative Eye, Communing with the Landscape and exploring metaphors. Patricia will lead a hands-on workshop on Sunday, October 22 (2 to 4:30 pm) during which she will offer guided meditations to help participants take their own photos using this technique
