Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos) Calisthenics - Fresh Pond
This pair of mallards are adults. The female (left) is streaked
with brown and tan, the bill is dull orange, and the wings have
a dark blue speclum surrounded by white. The male's breeding
plumage (pictured) is beautiful. The white neck ring is below
the iridescent feathers on the head. These feathers can look
either green or purple, depending on the light.
