Mayapple, Podophyllum peltatum
These robust woodland perennials have been planted in large numbers as part of the Northeast Sector Restoration Project. They are native to the northeastern United States. The flowers seem to peek shyly from under the large leaves. The fruit somewhat resembles an apple, and is edible.
