Celebrate the Summer Solstice
A Friends of Fresh Pond Reservation Program
Naturalist Boot Boutwell led this multi-faceted program about the longest day of the year. Indoors, he showed the group how the tilt of the earth creates the seasons (bottom left photo), read poems and legends about the solstice, and led us in song. Outside, he showed us wildflowers in bloom and shared information about their anatomy, their uses as medicine or food, and tips for identification.
