Wood Duck Boxes

Fresh Pond Reservation now has three nesting boxes for Wood Ducks, made and put up by the Cambridge Water Department. The boxes, numbered 1, 2 and 3, are on Little Fresh Pond, North Pond (on the golf course) and Black's Nook respectively. Peak nesting time for these birds is March and April.
Last week the Water Department put up four nesting boxes for Screech Owls (see Screech Owl Boxes)
Additional nesting boxes on the Reservation include four Chickadee boxes which have been left up year-round, and 15 Tree Swallow boxes, which were removed in the fall and will be put up again at the end of March.
