Pond Muckers
Using information and printed materials from the June 28, 2007 Friends
group program titled "Aquatic Weeds at Fresh Pond," four members
collected and identified aquatic plants from Black's Nook. We found
three native plant species: Waterweed (Elodea sp.), top right
photo; Coontail (Ceratophyllum sp.), bottom right photo; and
Emergent Smartweed (Polygonum sp.), not pictured. All are native
North American species. The June program was offered by the Department
of Conservation and Recreation for monitoring non-native aquatic
species.
