Beginner Tree Identification
Before going outside to look at and identify trees, participants in
this Friends of Fresh Pond Reservation program discussed basic information
about trees with walk leader Susan Coolidge. Some unusual examples of
trees include the oldest (about 4600 years, a Bristlecone Pine in the
California), the tallest (379.1 feet, a California Redwood), and largest
in diameter (33 feet, an Ahuehuete Cypress in Oaxaca, Mexico.)
