Strictly for the Birds.
These are the flowers of a highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum)
that is growing along the Perimeter Road between Black's Nook and Little
Fresh Pond. When the berries ripen in July, the bush will be so heavily
guarded by poison ivy vines that humans will not be able to reach the
berries. Birds (like other animals), are not affected by poison ivy,
and they will surely have a feast.
