Bracken, Pteridium
          aquilinum
These coarse, robust ferns are very common in New England woods
and can grow in poor soil. Their fronds, on long stalks, are almost
equally divided into three parts that are held nearly horizontal. A
patch of planted bracken are growing in the planting bed near the oak
bench that is located at the entrance to the lower path around Kingsley
          Park hillside.
