Early Goldenrod, Solidage juncea
These Goldenrod seeds are each equipped with a small parachute
of white fibers called a "pappus". When the wind blows, it will carry
the seeds away, perhaps to another sunny spot where they can grow
without competing with the parent plant for light and space.
