Common Buckthorn, Rhamnus cathartica
These plump, juicy buckthorn berries will provide an energy boost
for a hungry bird, which will then fly away and defecate the intact
seeds. Thus the buckthorns, Rhamnus cathartica and Frangula alnus,
introduced alien species, have spread and become invasive on the
Reservation and across the northern half of the United States.
