Winterberry, Ilex verticillata "Winter Red"
The lush-looking berries on these bushes near the Water Department buildings
apparently do not taste as good as they look: Birds usually ignore them
until late winter, when they are hungry because there is not much else
left to eat. In past years, a flock of robins has descend on the bushes,
and within hours, consumed all of the berries.
