          Evening Primrose, Oenothera biennis
The seeds in these fruit of the Evening Primrose are a popular
food for goldfinches. After the pods become dry and brown,
the birds will break them open from the top down, eating as many seeds

as they can, and scattering the rest. By the middle of winter, most
          of
the pods will be broken apart, and next year's seedlings planted,
          courtesy of the hungry birds.
