Hawthorn, Crataegus sp.
The fruits of this small tree look like crabapples,
but the long thorns reveal that the plant is a Hawthorn.
Apples, Crabapples, and Hawthorns are all members of
the Rose family. Among the 3000 species in this family
with similar fruit are Roses, Pears, Mountain Ashes, and
Serviceberries
