Short Summer?
The "snow" on paths near Black's Nook is actually the seeds,
of the large cottonwood tree (Populus deltiodes) that dominates
the area. The fluffy white cotton acts as a parachute to carry the
small white seeds away from the shadow of the parent, perhaps
to a sunny spot where they can germinate and grow.
