Spicebush (Lindera benzoin)
These 8 foot tall shrubs are now in flower near the Pond Road
at the edge of the woodsy area between Black's Nook
and Little Fresh Pond. The globular buds have opened into
bright yellow indistinct clusters.

Spicebush twigs are very aromatic when scratched.
Red berry-like aromatic fruit will form in July. A medicine
called tincture of benzoin has been made from this plant.
