2018 YEAR-IN-REVIEW
at Fresh Pond Reservation
Friends of Fresh Pond Reservation and the Cambridge Water Department

Hello friends and stewards of Fresh Pond Reservation, and Happy New Year!

This is the time of the year where we simultaneously reflect on 2018 and look forward with hope to the new year. 2018 was another good year!

  • This year we -- along with the Cambridge Water Department -- ran 145 educational programs, with over 1,000 people attending these programs. Our programs included bird walks, mushroom walks, and plant walks; nature storytime, walks for health, and animal puppet-making workshops.
  • This year volunteers on the Reservation gave over 1400 hours, 960 of which were dedicated to the Woodland Restoration Projects initiated by Friends group members. To all the volunteers out there, we thank you!

Want to support the work we do? Become a member of Friends of Fresh Pond Reservation in 2019 with a membership fee of $10. You can give via Paypal or send a check to 31 Mt. Pleasant St., Cambridge, MA 02140. We are an all-volunteer organization and all money donated goes directly to program materials and honoraria for speakers and presenters.

Looking for a more significant connection with education and stewardship on the Reservation? Consider joining our Planning Committee. We are currently looking for a new Coordinator of Friends of Fresh Pond Reservation, so if you’re looking for an important and meaningful way to contribute to your community and local green space please let us know!

And finally, we’d like to express our deep appreciation to all of you who work to care for the Reservation. Special thanks to those at the Cambridge Water Department, the Maynard Ecology Center, all of our volunteers, and those who contribute to Fresh Pond in a myriad of ways. Fresh Pond Reservation wouldn’t be the same without you!

Warmest wishes in this coldest of months,

Friends of Fresh Pond Reservation Planning Committee
