Knowing Trees by their Buds
After an introduction to techniques and guides for identifying our local trees by their buds, Ranger Jean Rogers took the group outside on the Reservation so that they could try out their skills in the field. The branch on top right is a sugar maple, Acer saccharum. The brightly colored tree on the bottom right is a red maple, Acer rubrum.
