White Oak, Quercus alba
The afternoon sun illuminates the distinctive craggy branches of this large white oak growing on a small hill near Little Fresh Pond. When people attending our tree identification programs are asked to describe the appearance of white oaks, they frequently say the trees remind them of scary movies.
