Sheep Laurel, Kalmia angustifolia

This small, broadleaf evergreen shrub is blooming in the Woodland Restoration Project. The flowers, similar in shape to those of the Mountain Laurel, are an intense, showy pink. The plant is also known as Lambkill, because it contains a glycoside known as andromedotoxin that is toxic for grazing animals.
