Purple Trillium or Wake-robin, Trillium erectum
It is always a treat to find this exquisite spring perennial growing in the woods. The flower has three petals and three green sepals - clues that it is a member of the Lily family, all of which have flowers with 3 or 6 petals. This is one of many trilliums that were planted on the Reservation during several habitat restoration projects.
