Nature Lives!

After a month-long delay due to a major snowstorm, the Friends group's eighth annual Nature Lives! program was rewarded with perfect weather and a big turnout. We looked for living things in the woods between Neville Place and the Lusitania Meadow. Here a section of fence that was lying on the ground was raised to reveal a variety of small invertebrates.

Mycologist Larry Millman (left photo, facing camera) found fungi on old logs and on tree branches and trunks. Insect expert Tom Murray (right photo, kneeling) used a screen and a piece of canvas to find invertebrates in the leaf litter.
