Bird Sightings

There was a lot of bird activity on the Reservation today. A large flock of Canada Geese was resting on the Pond near the Water Department. Also on the warer there was a pair of Buffleheads and a pair of Canvasbacks (male only in photo)

It was a treat to see two Screech Owls, one in the tree cavity overhanging the Perimeter Road near fencepost #508, the other in a nesting box at the base of the Kingsley Park Hillside.

These Mallards at Black's Nook swam right over to me as I stood on the platform. I suspect they are "park ducks" that are used to living on white bread tossed by well-meaning people.
