New Year's Day Bird Walk
In this photo, taken at the start of the walk, sixteen well-bundled birders are taking in the dubious treat of a large flock of European starlings. Later sightings were more to our liking: a common loon very close to the shore of the Pond, a red-tailed hawk, and a variety of songbirds near Neville Place. Every last one of the ducks that had been so abundant a few weeks ago were gone.
