Winterberry Hollies, Ilex verticillata and Common Cattails, Typha latifolia

In their natural element along the moist banks of Little Fresh Pond, these common native wetland plants make an attractive border. The cattails provide nesting habitat and materials for blackbird and small mammals, and the late-season berries of the deciduous holly provide much-needed food for birds and other animals.
