Migratory Bird Walk
As we gathered this very chilly morning, someone suggested we should
have called the event a "winter migratory bird walk." Fortunately,
the sun was bright, and the wind was low. We saw plenty of migrants,
including tree swallows on all 6 of the swallow boxes we passed, and
lots of common grackles and red-winged blackbirds. We also enjoyed the
songs of song sparrows, cardinals, red-wings, and goldfinches.
Here, the group is at Lusitnaia Meadow trying to identify a small songbird
that eventually eluded us.
