Goldenrod and Aster Identification
There are at least 10 species of asters and 7 of goldenrods growing on the reservation. Some are easy to identify, but others require close observation of details. During this Friends of of Fresh Pond Reservation program led by Barbara Strell, we used dichotomous keys and tables to identify specimens from the nearby Kingsley Park bioswale.
Shown here are Seaside Goldenrod, Solidago sempervirens, and New England Aster, Symphyotrichum novae-angliae.
