1. Some of the power used in the treatment processes is generated by these large windmills, more is produced by solar panels.
2. This photo of members of our group standing at the base of one of the egg-shaped digester modules shows the size of the module.

Although it looks like a lunar module, this concrete device is a diffuser pipe like those that sit at the end of the outfall tunnel that carries purified effluent 9 ½ miles out into the Boston Harbor. It has many ports that spread the flow so that it doesn't negatively impact the undersea environment.
4. Our tour leader, Charlie, knew the treatment plant from stem to stern, and clearly enjoyed sharing his appreciation for this technological wonder.
