Large-leaved Aster Seeds (Eurybia macrophylla)
Aster seeds, like those of dandelions, are attached to a fluffy parachute called a 'pappus.' When the seeds are ripe and ready to be dispersed, even a small breeze will carry them aloft and transport them to a new location. For a photo of flowers, see September 8.
