June 30, 2012 Wildflowers in the Kingsley Bioswale The Kingsley Bioswale, located at the bottom of the sledding slope in Kingsley Park, is a manmade water detention swale that slows the flow of rainwater from the hillside and filters it before it flows into the Pond. Among the wildflowers in bloom are these Daisy Fleabanes (Erigeron annua) and Common Milkweed (Asclepias syriaca.) Recently, volunteer Stewards worked in the bioswale, removing invasive weeds including Burdock, Bindweed, Mugwort, Black Swallowwort, Common Plantain, and Purple Loosestrife. |
