A Fresh Pond Reservation Walkabout
A large group turned out to hear Dave Kaplan, Cambridge Watershed Protection Supervisor, describe the procedures used by his staff to both monitor the quality of water in the City's Reservoirs, and protect the water supply against contamination from various external sources. Dave also demonstrated the use of several pieces of equipment used in the testing process. These included a sophisticated electronic device for checking water flow, and a bottle on a pole for collecting water for further testing.
