Large-leaved Aster, Eurybia macrophylla
This woodland aster is growing in the Woodland Restoration Project on the northeast side of Fresh Pond Reservation. The plant was donated by Arieh Tal, whose fascination with, and pursuit of knowledge about asters and goldenrods has made him an expert among botanists. His excellent website, Asters and Goldenrods of New England, is very helpful in identifying these sometimes consfusing species.
