Fresh Pond Reservation's
Woodland Restoration and Native Plants Demonstration Project
A quarter-acre plot full of invasive weeds has been turned into a lush
woodland understory, featuring plants that are native historically to
the area that we call Middlesex County. Four years ago, Friends group
member Suzanna Black volunteered to "adopt" the area and remove
the weeds. As empty spaces appeared, she filled them with native plants
that were either donated or purchased from New England Wild Flower Society.
Today the "Corner" has about 100 native species, and features
a circular path so that visitors can enjoy it. It is located about 1/4
mile north (counter-clockwise) from the water department.
