          Mushroom Gills
This photo shows the underside of several gilled mushrooms. Spores are
produced between these gills and, when they are mature, fall out and
are blown away by the wind. For convenience, and because many mushrooms
have gills, mycologists divide fungi into Gill Fungi and Non-gill Fungi.
Non-gill Fungi include species with pores, teeth, or other modes of
          spore dispersal.
