Arbor Day Tree Planting Workshop
Fresh Pond Ranger Jean Rogers began this program by describing some
of the native trees that people might want to plant in their gardens.
The group then walked to the Woodland Restoration Project where a nursery
tree (Red Maple, Acer rubrum) had been placed in preparation
for planting. Participants enlarged the hole, removed the burlap, replaced
the soil, and watered the tree.
In the lower left photo Ranger Jean is demonstrating how one determines
the clay content of soil.
