A Young Red-tailed Hawk Enjoys a Meal
Harry Powers watched this Red-tail with a small animal in its talons
fly up to a tree limb, where it proceeded to devour its meal. For people
who like raptors such as hawks and owls, it is always a thrill to watch
a bird catch prey and eat it. The stripes on this bird's tail indicate
that it is a juvenile: the tail feathers of adults are red on top, with
no stripes.
