Oxeye or False Sunflower, Heliopsis helianthoides

The Weir Meadow is full of these cheerful looking flowers, and also full of the insects that collect their pollen and nectar. There are at least 9 species of true sunflowers (Helianthus) in New England, and another dozen species with similar-looking yellow flowers.
