Sweet-scented Water Lily, Nymphaea odorata
Although we cannot get close enough to this lovely native aquatic flower
to smell it, we can appreciate its elegant beauty. Until a few years
ago there were no white water lilies in Black's Nook, where this photo
was taken. It is not known whether the plant arrived with the help of
a person; or whether perhaps seeds were carried on the feet or feathers
of a bird, which is how aquatic plants often travel.
