Oxeye Daisy (Leucanthemum vulgare)
Oxeye daisies grow in abundance throughout the Reservation.
These daisies are growing across from Lusitania Meadow, on the
inner path of Perimeter Road that is adjacent to Fresh Pond.
Oxeye daisies were introduced from Europe. They are native to
to Europe and Asia. This plant was once classified as
Chrusanthemum leucanthemum because it was believed
to be a close relative of the cultivated chrysanthemum.
Botanical Research has proven it is best placed in a genus
which is about 25 species separate from Chrysanthemum.
