Garlic Mustard Weedout
In spite of wind and rain today, Rebecca
Ramsay and Betsy Meyer tackled the proliferating Garlic Mustard near
the Weir Meadow. Garlic Mustard (Allaria petiolata) is an invasive
alien weed which chokes out native species and produces a chemical that
destroys the mycorrhizal fungi that are symbiotic with the roots of
native tree species, and important for the trees' uptake of nutrients.
