A Screech Owl Nest Box at Kingsley Park
This box was made by Cambridge Water Department carpenters in response to a suggestion by members of Friends of Fresh Pond Reservation. Experienced birders believe there may be 4 or more Screech Owls on the Reservation. Three additional boxes were made. Two will be attached to dead tree trunks (snags) in the woods surrounding the Lusitania Meadow, and the fourth to a tree trunk near the Butterfly Meadow in the vicinity of the giant American Beech trees in back of Neville Place.
