Common Hackberry, Celtis occidentalis
The craggy, berry-dotted branches of the Hackberry tree sketch a familiar pattern against the sky. This tree is not actually very common in the area, but it is a local native whose leaves provide nutrition for the larva of the Hackberry Butterfly, and whose berries become food for birds in late winter.
