Native Plants in the Woodland Restoration Demonstration Project
Photos, left to right: Christmas Fern (Polystichum acrostichoides)
with Pennsylvania Sedge (Carex pensylvanica), Highbush Blueberry
(Vaccinium corymbosum), Spinulose Wood Fern (Dryopteris carthusiana)
and Blue-stemmed Goldenrod (Solidago caesia)
The Woodland Restoration Demonstration Project is located next to the
Perimeter Road about ¼ mile north of the Water Department buildings.
Created and maintained by three volunteers, its goal is to reintroduce
communities of plants that might have grown in that location in pre-colonial
times. All plants are considered native to the area of Massachusetts
we call Middlesex County.
