Would Solar Energy Work for My House?
The spacious auditorium of the new Cambridge Library was the site of
this informative program, during which three speakers shared their knowledge
of solar energy installation and use. Host Paul Lyons, President of
ZapotecEnergy Inc. in Cambridge, described the benefits and challenges
of installing solar panels. Garrett Avery, architect and owner of a
100-year-old home retrofitted with solar thermal and solar photovoltaics,
described his experiments with a variety of insulations and other energy-saving
installations. Jonah DeCola, builder of energy efficient buildings and
solar installer, showed photos of many of the houses in Cambridge that
have solar panels.
The program was co-sponsored with the Solar Energy Interest Group, formed
by participants in the 2009-2010 Cambridge Climate Congress and coordinated
by Vice Mayor Henrietta Davis
