Black Willow (Salix nigra) with Cloud Reflections over Little Fresh Pond
Black Willows are intolerant of shade and grow in full sunlight near water. Theyproduce the substance salicin, the active ingredient in aspirin. Native Americanschewed the Black Willow's twigs to treat headaches.
