Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis)
Perimeter Road (Old Meadow Area)
The small showy flowers of this tree add color and provide a striking
contrast withthe colors that surround it. Eastern Redbuds are small
trees that bloom in early spring. Since they are a member of the Pea
Family the shape of their flowers resemble sweetpeas. They have a short
life span and rarely live longer than fifty years.
