Lusitania Meadow - Black-Eyed Susan, Rudbeckia hirta, Calico
Aster, Symphyotrichum lateriflorum
Black-Eyed Susan is a native of the mid-western prairies, and were brought
East in samples of clover seeds. They provide an abundance of cheerful
color in meadows and fields Their flowering time is June through
October. Since October is the end of their flowering period, all the
Black-Eyed Susans that I saw in had a semi wilted appearance. Despite
this, the color was still vivid and vibrant. By contrast, the Calico
Asters
were in very good condition. They grow through Eastern North America
and the Plains States, and flower from August through October.
