Volunteer Appreciation Dinner - Cambridge Water Dept. Cafeteria
Chip Norton (first photo, center) and his staff cooked a delicious dinner
to show their appreciation for those whose donate their time and talent
at the Reservation. In addition, the volunteers were given gloves (for
weeding) and a native plant to take home. Eric Houston (third photo,
holding tool) is one of several volunteers who removes invasive plants
that grow at Fresh Pond. We were entertained by his humorous demonstrations
of how to remove burdock (a very tough plant to remove) with the tool
he invented for this purpose. He providedadditional amusement by reading
his witty poems that describe the ups and downs of his weeding experiences.
